7th Grade Disciplinary Information

In our efforts to provide every student with the best learning environment possible at Turner Middle School, all teachers and administrators will employ a new school-wide disciplinary plan.   Under this new plan, students will be held accountable for their behavior cumulatively through all of their classes through the use of citations. Procedures following each citation are as follows:

Citation 1 Citation 2 Citation 3 Citation 4 Citation 5 Referral
Verbal Warning Student/Teacher

Conference w/Parent Contact

(Optional: Silent Lunch)

After School Detention w/ Parent Contact  Team ISS w/Parent Contact Parent Conference Administrator Referral w/ Parent Contact

Again, this process is cumulative among ALL classes for the individual student, not for individual classes.  In other words, it is possible for a student to get Citation 1 in 1st period, Citation 2 later on in 3rd period, Citation 3 during lunch, and so on.  A few important things to note about this process:

  • Citations are issued after a student has had multiple opportunities to correct behavior.
  • Student behavior is used to determine eligibility for 7th grade activities.
  • Student behavior record is ongoing throughout the semester. Students start with a clean slate at the start of the 2nd semester.
  • 7th grade detentions are held on Thursdays after school until 4:30. A student can only reschedule detention ONE time. Failure to serve the rescheduled detention will result in an office referral.
  • The citation process continues even if a student has not yet served or is in the process of serving a consequence.
  • Students who reach the Referral step remain at that step for each following citation.
  • Tardiness is handled separately from this process. The student will get one warning with the first tardy, detention for the second and third, and an office referral for the fourth and on. This is also cumulative, meaning a student can get a warning in one class, and then earn a detention if he or she is late to the next class.

Feel free to contact any 7th grade teacher if you have any questions about this process.

Thank you for your support!
